BLITZ BEYOND LONDON

BOMBS BEYOND LONDON - By Brian Zelley


The Blitz of London was bad, but beyond London other towns,
villages and cities received destruction falling from the sky.

One of many sad cases was the loss of five members of the 
BUDD  family December 12, 1940 in the Sparkhill area of
Greater Birmingham including husband and wife
ALFRED SIDNEY and ETHEL BUDD.  Others were
children Dennis and Barbara Budd and Doreen.

Alfred was injured at number 4 Alfred Road, but died in
the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

In other locations there were cases of othere lost siblings
such as NINA and RUTH BARSBY.  Ruth was oinly 12 and 
Nina was 17 years young.

In February 2001, the Birmingham Air Raids Rememberances Association
 was formed through the efforts of those such as Dr. Carl Chinn,
Marjorie Ashby, Rev. Peter Berry and others.

One if many lost was 55 year old FRANCIS EDWARD PHILLIPS
on November 28, 1940 in Bootle.
